HELSINKI -- Nobel Peace Prize laureate and Former Finnish President Martti Ahtisaari has been a peace mediator in many conflict areas around the world. Now, he has taken up the challenge to reconcile the vicious conflict between the Angry Birds and Bad Piggies on Piggy Island.
A truce between birds and pigs has been signed for the duration of the 2014 Ahtisaari Days, an event held from November 11th to the 13th, highlighting the importance of peace mediation. The birds have been requested to cease any and all slingshot activity, and the hope is that King Pig can find alternatives for eggs in his menu. Our advice: give peas a chance.
Piggy Island's peace mediator Ahtisaari knows what he's doing! The Former President of Finland has been working with several peace processes over the years, from the process leading to Namibia’s independence to the process between the Government of Indonesia and the Free Aceh Movement. He has also acted as the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for the future status process for Kosovo.
We can only hope that the peacekeeping measures on Piggy Island will be effective. Although the two have grappled bitterly for years, both Red and King Pig seem to be receptive to the idea of peace. This could be the beginning of a new era for Piggy Island.
